The singer and activist for human rights, Miriam Makeba, tomorrow will be dismissed from the stage with a concert of English jazz and African music in the Palau de la Música. The concert, recorded at the IX Festival del Mil · leni, is part of the tour The Farewell Tour that features South African artist worldwide to end his prolific career.
In presenting the concert, the singer, 75, acknowledged being "very tired" after more than 50 years in the music world and expressed the desire to engage, once finished their final tour, the Rehabilitation Centre Miriam Makeba for Girls, established in 2001 for his humanitarian foundation Zenzile Mariam Makeba.
Known worldwide for her song "Pata Pata," Makeba shelling the most significant of their discography from a repertoire which combines old and new tracks and will have the stage presence of a team of three singers and five musicians. Building on its last pass through English territory, the United Nations Association has today granted the XVIII Makeba Peace Prize.
